Staying Cool at Brigtsen’s: Coolinary 2017

August is one of our favorite months out of the year; with temperatures in the high 90s, you’ll be sure to get a perfect tan but most importantly, we get to dine out for Coolinary!

Coolinary is an integral part of the history and culture of our city. During this annual culinary tradition, locals (and tourists, of course) can enjoy prix-fixe brunch, lunch and dinner menus at superb prices: $20 or less for lunch and $39 or less for dinner and brunch.

We’ve been traveling a lot this summer, but we could not miss having at least one Coolinary meal. This weekend, we put on our fancy pants and sat down at one of our all-time NOLA favorites: Brigtsen’s

Cheers to another year of Coolinary, we obviously had to start this foodie celebration with bubbly.

Brigtsen’s Coolinary menu is always one of the very best; it features 3 courses for $39, and an option to add wine pairings at $55. Picking each course was not an easy task, every single dish is simply amazing.

First Course

The good thing about doing Coolinary in a group is that you can get a little taste of everything,

Main Course

Our lovely server warned us as soon as we sat down, picking the main course would be a difficult task because all of the dishes were exquisite. She was right. After much debate, we opted for the seafood options. You can’t go wrong with seafood at the place that invented The Shell Beach Diet.

We approached our next task of the night, picking a dessert. If you have a sweet tooth like us, prepared to be wowed by Chef Emily Pfeifer’s decadent creations. And when in doubt, you cannot go wrong with Brigtsen’s famous Pecan Pie.

Lagniappe: A Preview Of Reveillon

After dessert, we were quite stuffed but we could not say no to Chef Frank Brigtsen when he brought out a little preview of his Reveillon menu. We won’t tell you what this delicious dessert is just yet, but we will tell you this: you won’t want to miss it for the world. Is it Christmas time yet?

There’s only 11 days left in August, y’all, and if you haven’t been to a Coolinary lunch, dinner or brunch, don’t miss out. If there’s a new or classic New Orleans restaurant you’ve been meaning to try this is your chance. Take out your boo, your babes or your family out to a meal you’ll remember for years to come.
