DIY: How to Spice Up Your Parade Look Fa’ Free

Oh Mardi Gras, how we love thee. Costumes, make up, wigs, glitter and BEADS. During MG we basically get to wear everything we are obsessed with – all at once. #yas

Though some of you might be splurging at Fifi Mahoney’s or getting the latest accessories at Trendz on Magazine Street, some of us are on a budget and/or really enjoy arts and crafts.

Get ready to shine in your Mardi Gras outfits with these two fun ideas to spice up your parade looks, for {basically} free,

Mardi Bras

You’ll need:

  • A Bra in a fun color (#BabesTip – hit up Walmart. Make sure it covers the ladies well – you don’t want any nip slips on St Charles Ave. What will the Uptown housewives say?! )
  • Mardi Gras beads
  • Scissors
  • A glue gun and glue sticks
  • Bonus: Glitter, feathers, plastic flowers, etc!

Make a night out of it with your babes,

Set up a table with all the materials, cover your table with newspaper to avoid damaging it with the hot glue. You’ll just need to come up a design or pattern before you start glueing. You will burn your fingers, happen to the best of us. But have the wine flowing to numb the pain.

Geaux Cups & Dranks

You’ll need:

  • A plastic cup or a flask (we’re sure you have plenty of these around your house)
  • Mardi Gras beads
  • Scissors
  • A glue gun and glue sticks
  • Bonus: Glitter, plastic instruments, anything that looks NOLA-like, Jazzy or Mardi Gras!

Cut the Mardi Gras Beads into smaller strings, and definitely think of a design before you begin. Have fun with it and impress everyone with your go cup on the Neutral Ground.

There you have it babes, dress (and drink) to impress this Carnival season. We’re pretty sure all of us have most of these items at home. So what are you waiting for? Stop spending your Thursday night scrolling down Instagram and start updating your Parade looks for {basically} free.
