In New Orleans, Carnival is a time to eat, drink, sin, repent & repeat! This includes, indulging in the most exquisite menus that our local restaurants have to offer. You already know that we are utterly obsessed with the food at Brigtsen’s, so when we saw Uncle Frank Brigtsen’s Facebook post that he had crafted a special Carnival Menu we immediately picked up the phone and made reservations.
Though you’ll be tempted to order from the regular Brigtsen’s menu – do check out the 2017 Carnival Menu, or you could order from both. Treat yourself!
We obviously had to try just about everything on it – here’s what we ate (and what you should eat too).
The Catfish-N-Grits are the ultimate comfort food. What NOLA Babe doesn’t love the cheesiest of grits topped with fried fresh catch?!
We also tried the Oyster & Artichoke soup. You’ll wish this had unlimited refills. It’s rich, creamy, spicy & exquisite!
Sharing is caring, so we ordered one of each and shared both 2nd course options. We tried to pick out our favorite but they were both so different and delicious that we decided they’re both our favorites.
For the meat eater, the smoked pork chops are for you. The blueberry cane vinegar glaze is to die for.
On a seafood diet? You’ll absolutely love the fresh grilled fish with a crawfish pesto sauce.
Now, the hardest part. What to order for dessert…
Pastry Chef Emily Pfeifer is a dessert genius, her creations never cease to amaze us. In the spirit of Carnival she’s created two of the most amazing desserts we’ve ever tried at Brigtsen’s. *Drum Roll Please*
Purple. Yellow & Green. Yes, babes & bros, that’s a king cake bread pudding with a creole cream cheese sauce. #yasss You cannot miss trying this – this is THE king cake variation to try in 2017.
Are you more of a chocolate loving babe? Aren’t we all?! Try the mocha crème brûlée. Warm, crunchy, rich and smooth. You know what they say, why fall in love when you can fall in chocolate?
Don’t forget to pair all of these with your favorite classic cocktail or a bottle of wine. It’s carnival season after all, so drink up!
What are you waiting for? Make a res at Brigtsen’s before we manage to eat all of the king cake bread puddings!
