Maybe you acquired a nice shoulder burn at Jazz Fest, but it’s time to get a summer glow on those pasty legs, and get ready for a time in New Orleans where jorts are really the only thing you can wear without passing out from a heat stroke.
Although are not too far from several bodies of water, sometimes it’s difficult to get away for a beach weekend, or we don’t have friends with boats (re-evaluating our lives). If you are stuck in the city, don’t fret! There are still so many places to get your tan on. Here’s a few of our favorites spots to tan with our babes.
Above the Grid at NOPSI
317 Baronne Street
The chicest rooftop pool in town, Above the Grid pool at bar at the NOPSI is our favorite place to relax poolside with a glass of champagne. The view is unbelievable, and the sunshine hits their rooftop perfectly all day making for the perfect place to get extra bronze.
Alto at the Ace Hotel
600 Carondelet Street
We hate to state the obvious, but if you haven’t been to Alto at the Ace on a sunny weekend afternoon, you are missing out. It’s not really the place to cannonball into the swimming pool, or swim laps, but if you are satisfied with a frozen drink in hand, bikini on, and legs in the pool among the coolest young crown in Nola this is the place for you. The scene here gets pretty lit on Sunday afternoon so if you are looking for a sunday funday, this is the place to be.
The Country Club
634 Louisa Street
Go for the brunch, and stay for the pool. Located in the Bywater neighborhood, The Country Club has been a local favorite swimming hole for decades. Clothing is no longer optional (sigh),but that doesn’t mean you won’t have just as much of a fun time. The cabana bar is fully stocked!
Your Friend’s CBD Apartment
It’s time to hit up that friend who lives at one of the hip new places in the Warehouse District or SOMA. Almost all of the apartments and condos come equipped with a rooftop pool. From 930 Poydras, to The Paramount, The Woodward, Four Winds and so many more – you’ve got to know someone, or someone who knows someone who lives in one of these places. An even better friend might lend you the code to the gate for the day (wink;).
Exposition Drive (behind the Zoo)
No one will look at you funny if you rock a bikini top with your jorts at this riverfront hangout. The only downside is, if you get too hot, it’s probably not the best idea to jump in the Mississippi, but you can always find a shady spot!
The Roosevelt New Orleans
130 Roosevelt Way
The rooftop pool at The Roosevelt Hotel is the most luxurious in town. It’s not generally open to non-guests, but if you are willing to drop some cash, you can rent a cabana for the day-not so bad when split between a group. Treat yo’ self to the good life you were meant to live for a day babes!
The Drifter Hotel
3522 Tulane Avenue
This spot on Tulane Ave came made its debut last year, and is still going strong. Reminiscent of a funky hotel in Palm Springs, The Drifter makes The Ace look basic to all the hipsters in town. Simple, yet very Instagrammable. Bikini tops are optional, and wigs and leather speedos are encouraged.
4422 Magazine Street
Need to be tan ASAP? Check out the amazing NOLA Tan on Magazine Street! Owner Gretta Mollen was a badass restaurateur babe at the beginning of her career. After losing her restaurant during Katrina, she decided to move in another direction. The idea for NOLA TAN was born from Gretta’s continued desire to make folks feel good, and her passion to give back to her community. Gretta is not only amazing in her spray tanning technique, but she’s also so fun to chat with while you’re getting your glow on!
We don’t know about you, but we are ready to get our tan on. See you at the pool babes!
