King Cakes We’re Most Excited To Eat This Year

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Carnival is officially here and that means: King Cake season.

Although we’re all still trying to get our act together after the Holidays, get back into shape, and maybe stop drinking that much, you can’t deny that you’re just excited as us to eat all of the king cakes (even if that means working out twice as hard).

Trust us when we say that, between the two of us, we’ve basically tried all of the king cakes out there. However, as we scrolled down our Instagram feeds during Kings Day, we found a couple of brand new king cake flavors we MUST try this year. We can’t wait to dig into these,

King Cake Doberge

Bakery Bar – 1179 Annunciation Street New Orleans, Louisiana 70130

If you haven’t tried Debbie’s Doberge or been to Bakery Bar, you’re missing out. We may or may not be guilty of eating doberge at least once a month. So, what is doberge? Six to eight layers of white or yellow cake with custard, curd or ganache filling and poured fondant.

Ready to try some? Head to Bakery Bar.

Babka King Cake

Shaya Restaurant – 4213 Magazine Street New Orleans, Louisiana 70115

We love just about everything that Alon Shaya makes. When we heard he was making a Babka King Cake for this Mardi Gras season, we were pretty damn stoked. However, we still have to wait a few more weeks till we can all try this bad boy. This King Cake will be available at Shaya only during the month of February. Start marking your calendars, we’re sure this one is going to be AMAZING.

Nectar Cream King Cake

Gracious Bakery – 1000 S Jefferson Davis Pkwy #100, New Orleans, LA 70125

Gracious Bakery offers Queen & King Cakes in a variety of flavors, we’re mostly excited to try their Nectar Cream King Cake this year. What’s more NOLA than King Cake + Nectar Cream, right? Also, if you’re reading this and feeling sad because you’re not in New Orleans for King Cake season, good news: Gracious Bakery offers Nationwide shipping! Order yours here.

Valrhona Caramelized Milk Chocolate + Espresso King Cake

Willa Jean – 611 O’Keefe Ave, New Orleans, LA 70113

We usually head to Willa Jean for our Frosé & brunch needs; this year we’ll be heading over for King Cake as well. It’s not your traditional king cake with icing and sprinkles but it looks just as amazing as the traditional ones. Can’t wait to catch a parade Downtown while sipping on some Frosé while eating a slice of this scrumptious cake!

King Cake Monkey Bread

Emeril’s – 800 Tchoupitoulas St, New Orleans, LA 70130

Bam! Two of our favorite treats: King Cake & Monkey Bread. We’ve loved everything Emeril makes since we can remember, and we can’t wait to dig in and pull apart this Monkey Bread at Emeril’s. The flavors vary weekly so you’ll always be in for a surprise!

Let’s face it, we’ll be eating all of these King Cakes & more! Happy Carnival y’all and if you know of any other delicious King Cakes we MUST try this Carnival season, please let us know in the comments.

Happy Mardi Gras, Babes!

XOXO
