How To Plan An Alternative Birthday Celebration

Last month, Babes & Beignets turned 3, can you believe it? 🎂🎂🎂  We really can’t believe it’s been 3 whole years of documenting the fabulous times we’ve had in NOLA and around the world, and 3 years of meeting some of our favorite people ever.

Although we would have normally celebrated this milestone by poppin’ a $20 bottle of cava at The Columns #ballinonabudget, this year we’ve made it a point to incorporate fitness and wellness into almost every aspect of our lives.

And yes, we did have a boozy Babes & Beignets celebration. But this time we did it in a non traditional fashion: we took over Higher Power NOLA at The Beacon for a yoga and cycling class, and then went for healthy eats and a watermelon+vodka cocktail at The Daily Beet.

Thanks for hosting us at Higher Power, Mark!

If you have an upcoming birthday celebration or bachelorette party, and you’re looking for a way to celebrate that doesn’t include a huge bar tab, keep reading 😉

Pick A Theme & A Spot

Think outside the box: no bars, and if you’re going to do a restaurant (because duh, you’ll need food and drinks) pick a place you and your friends haven’t all been to before. We decided on Higher Power NOLA at The Beacon because we’re pretty much obsessed with their classes, their instructors and vibe, plus they are one of the biggest Babes & Beignets fans ever.

Get Some Fun Goodies

We don’t know about y’all but goodie bags get us pretty excited. We wanted to give our guests items that would be useful for the fitness class, as well as after class, and that also wouldn’t break the bank.

For our goodie bags, we had: a bottle of Evamor water, fun colored hair ties, Babes & Beignets koozies, and an $36 for your first 7 days at Higher Power coupon (PS: This is fab deal on classes for first time Higher Power customers is still going on).

Pick A Hashtag

You’ll obviously want everyone to document the fun you’re having. Have a cute hashtag that everyone can add into their posts.

#BabesTip: Print out a little flyer to display at your event, so no one forgets what the hashtag is!

Don’t Forget The Snapchat Filter

If you don’t have a custom Snapchat filter, did your event even happen? The answer is no 😂😂😂. Get your babes & bros extra excited about the celebration and create your own custom Snapchat filter (ours was only $11 for 3 full hours of amazing Snapchats). And no, we didn’t have to hire a graphic designer to create ours; Snapchat now has a user friendly platform with easy to edit templates.

Special thanks to Higher Power, The Daily Beet, all the babes and bros that came out to celebrate #BabesTakeHP with us, and everyone who has been part of the Babes & Beignets journey. Here’s to the next 3 years.

XOXO
