5 Go To Places in NOLA Right Now

For the next few weeks, our babes are sharing their top “5 Go To Places in NOLA Right Now” series to help you answer the age old question we all get with frequency: “What are your go-to’s in NOLA right now?” This week, Sara has you covered with her favorites for brunch, happy hour, dinner, brews, and late night partying right now.

Brunch: Paladar 511

511 Marigny Street

While everyone knows that NOLA’s not at a loss for brunch spots, Paladar 511 ranks at the very tip top of our brunch list. Paladar has one of the coolest warehouse atmospheres of any brunch restaurant we’ve tried so far, and is situated within blocks of Frenchman Street, in case you wanted to follow up your brunch with a boozy mid-day stroll. And when it comes to food and drinks, Paladar can’t be beat. Whether you decide to go with their savory huevos rancheros or their delightfully sweet lemon ricotta pancakes, you can’t go wrong. Or hey, get the pancakes as an appetizer-we don’t judge! And every babe knows that it’s not really brunch without a drink (or a few;)), so definitely try their Spicy Maria (their take on a Bloody Mary with jalapenos and tequila) or their refreshing strawberry sangria. Be sure to venture back at dinner time for pastas and pizzas!

Happy Hour: Avo

5908 Magazine Street

It’s no secret that we love happy hours. Discounted cocktails and small plates? What babe can argue with that. Few NOLA spots have as many happy hour options and as great of prices as Avo, located on Magazine Street, uptown. From 4-6 pm Monday through Thursday, Avo has an incredible selection of $6 cocktails and wine. Or, if you really feel like splurging, you can choose the Rose flight for only $13!

Avo also offers a number of appetizers and small plates on their happy hour menu ranging from $5 to $9, including their signature mussels and fries, and their to-die-for brussels sprouts. And with new pastas being added to the happy hour menu in June, you definitely won’t need a dinner later. As if we needed another reason to ditch work early!

Dinner: Sylvain

625 Chartres Street

If we find ourselves in the Quarter around dinner time, there is about a 95% chance that we will be dining at Sylvain. There are few places in NOLA where we have tried every single item on the menu, but Sylvain is one of them. And we can say, without a doubt, every single thing Sylvain serves is delicious.

Nestled in the middle of the Quarter, and complete with a beautiful courtyard and candlelit atmosphere, there’s really no cuter spot for a romantic date night. And Sylvain’s creative cocktails and rockstar wine list only add to the cuteness. With a semi-eclectic menu, including their own take on a Chic-Fil-A sandwich and their unbeatable beef cheeks and pork milanese, there really is something for everyone. All this talk has us making our next reservation!

Drinks: Courtyard Brewery

1020 Erato Street

Over the past few years, NOLA has been making a name for itself in the beer department. It seems like every few months or so a new brewery pops up. One of our favorites is definitely Courtyard Brewery in the lower garden district. Courtyard offers up an impressive beer list, including Courtyard’s own brews as well as those of other big-name brewers, like Founders and Saint Arnold. And because Courtyard knows you shouldn’t be drinking on an empty stomach, they have a different food truck on location each day of the week.

If you’re not sure which beer to try, talk to one of Courtyard’s brewers or servers, all of whom are incredibly friendly and helpful. They have yet to steer us wrong!

Late Night: 12 Mile Limit

500 S. Telemachus Street

When the restaurants begin closing and the night starts taking a hedonistic turn, one of our favorite places to find ourselves is 12 Mile Limit in Mid-City. With some of the best cocktails in all of NOLA, and the occasional DJ’d dance party, what is there not to like? 12 Mile also serves up some delicious food (definitely worthy of satisfying that late night craving), and has an awesome outdoor courtyard for when you need to take a break from all that dancing. And with prices that make our wallets very happy, 12 Mile absolutely earns a spot on the list of our favorite NOLA dive bars.

We hope you like Sara’s picks. Check back next week for more, and see Alessandra’s picks from last week here.
